Content Delivery Network Use
In our survey of the Alexa-ranked top 2,000 e-commerce sites, we found that while 17% more sites use a CDN in 2011 than in 2010, this doesn't equal faster load times. One possible reason for this: More successful sites contain more content than sites lower in the rankings. Sites that do not use a CDN may choose not to do so because their pages are lighter, with fewer page objects and less complexity.
