Application Acceleration Treatments

Payload Reduction - uses a number of techniques to minimize response and request payloads. For instance, it transparently removes and re-inserts ViewState data in ASP.NET pages, reducing bandwidth and transfer time. This allows developers to use third-party controls, regardless of ViewState size, reducing the need to trade off application features and development speed for application performance.

Dynamic Caching - automatically detects cacheable pages and resources and caches them in the Strangeloop AS1000 network cache or the browser. Strangeloop Cache Choreography manages expiry and virtually eliminates the risk of serving outdated content, making browser caching a viable strategy and eliminating the need to manually code cache expiry. Dynamic Caching eliminates page processing time and offloads processing work and caching from the application servers. Automated caching saves developers the time and effort of manually finding, declaring, and configuring caching.

Rapid Installation and Configuration

The Strangeloop AS1000 appliance is configured through the Strangeloop Manager, which runs under the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) on a Windows PC. The AS1000 appliance is designed for simple, rapid installation and configuration. The Strangeloop Manager provides an easy-to-use GUI that supports setting up the appliance and configuring the application treatments. Treatments can be applied on a per-application or per-URL basis. The Strangeloop Manager also provides access to Strangeloop Performance Analysis features.

Easy, Fail-Safe Deployment

The AS1000 appliance is installed between the network (or the load balancer if present) and the web servers. A single AS1000 appliance can support multiple applications and multiple web servers. The AS1000 can be deployed with no changes to your servers, routers, load balancers, applications, or user desktops. It accelerates ASP.NET traffic without interfering with your network infrastructure.

To facilitate deployment, the AS1000 includes a pass-through mode that allows traffic to pass unaltered until treatments are configured and activated. This feature supports staged implementation, allowing the operator to plug the AS1000 into the network and configure and activate treatments individually. The AS1000 automatically switches to pass-through mode, protecting your ASP.NET traffic in the event that the AS1000 is unable to process traffic (power off, software failure, etc.).

End-to-End Performance Visibility

Strangeloop Performance Analysis provides performance measurement, reporting and visualization, including performance metrics for the application server, bandwidth consumption, browser load time, and the Strangeloop AS1000. The Strangeloop system charts the results, providing granular visualization of your application's performance.

Strangeloop Analysis measures browser load and rendering times, giving you a true picture of your users' experience.
