Jonathan Bixby, Chief Executive Officer

Jonathan has a wealth of experience in starting and leading technology companies. As co-founder and Chairman of the Board of IronPoint Technology, the market leader in public-sector content and collaboration, Jonathan led the company from start-up to successful acquisition by The Active Network in thirty months. Jonathan also served as vice president, sales, at NTS Internet Solutions and helped that company enjoy a five-year growth rate of more than 600 percent and earn spots on the Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 and Fast 500 as well as Profit Magazine's Profit 100. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Arts in international relations from the University of British Columbia.


Virginia Balcom, Vice President, Marketing

In her more than 20 years of high tech experience Virginia has contributed tech marketing expertise to companies in a range of industries from energy to cellular communications to supercomputing. Virginia was a key team member at Abatis Systems Corp., a telecommunications vendor acquired in September 2000 by Redback Networks for USD$636 million, the largest sale price of any private Canadian high-technology company up to that time. Virginia then went on to help OctigaBay Systems create an accessible supercomputer. OctigaBay was acquired by Cray Inc. in April 2004 for USD$115 million. Following OctigaBay’s acquisition Virginia remained with Cray to lead the re-branding of the supercomputing icon and launch their next generation high performance computing products. She holds a bachelor of applied science in mechanical engineering from the University of British Columbia.

 
Richard Campbell, Product Evangelist
Richard Campbell Product Evangelist Richard, who has 30 years of high-tech experience, is a Microsoft Regional Director for British Columbia and is recognized as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) in the area of ASP.NET development. An impressive list of North American organizations, including Barnes&Noble.com, Dow Chemical, Johnson & Johnson Health Care Services, Reuters, Subaru/Isuzu and the U.S. Air Force, have benefited from Richard's consulting expertise. Richard’s PWOP Productions creates a variety of multimedia programs including ".NET Rocks!, the Internet Audio Talk Show for .NET Developers," a podcast produced twice a week for about 150,000 listeners. Richard has contributed nearly 300 Advisor columns to Microsoft Access Advisor, and is the author of courseware for AppDev's national SQL Server 7.0 training seminars and video series. Since 1995, Richard has been a regular speaker on the technical-conference circuit—“I’ve spoken on every continent except Antarctica,” he says—and, in 2006, was ranked the top speaker at Tech Ed Asia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The son of an electrical engineer, Richard was tinkering with microcomputers at age 10 and, by 16, had started his own business developing custom software.
 
Joshua Bixby, President

With oversight of marketing, sales, partnerships and product management, Joshua defines Strangeloop's strategic marketing and product direction.  Joshua has more than 10 years of experience in the computer industry. He co-founded and served as president and chief executive officer of IronPoint Technology, helping lead the company to a successful acquisition by The Active Network in 2006. At the time of its acquisition IronPoint numbered 30 staff, 400 million page views per month and more than 250 clients. Early in his career, he served as senior vice president, marketing and product development, at NTS Internet Solutions after having held senior marketing and product roles at MNK, and GRAPAD. Before entering high tech, Joshua worked with the World Bank in Benin, West Africa, auditing banks and implementing financial controls in relation to micro-finance initiatives. Joshua graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Arts in management and business economics from the University of Toronto.

 
Kent Alstad, Chief Technology Officer

Kent is principal or contributing author on all of Strangeloop's pending patents. Before helping create Strangeloop, he served as CTO at IronPoint Technology. Kent also founded, Eclipse Software, a Microsoft Certified Solution Provider, that he sold to Discovery Software in 2001. In more than 20 years of professional development experience, Kent has served as architect and lead developer for successful production solutions with The Active Network, ADP, Lucent, Microsoft, and NCS. "Port View", an application Kent architected for the Port of Vancouver, was honoured as "Best Administrative System" at the 1996 Windows World Open Competition. Kent holds a bachelor of science in psychology from the University of Calgary.

 
Lee Purvis, Vice President, Operations

Lee, a 20 year veteran of the high-tech industry, spent three years with IronPoint Technology where he helped guide that company through high growth as an early-stage startup to acquisition in 2006. As chief executive officer of Discovery Software, from 2000 to 2002, Lee helped the high-technology consulting firm increase monthly revenues to $5.7 million, a 160 percent increase in just 20-months. He also managed the company’s growth in staff from 19 to 80. During Lee’s tenure as CEO, Discovery Software emerged as the twelfth-fastest-growing company in British Columbia. In 2001, Business in Vancouver newspaper honored Lee’s business achievements by including him in its list of the “Top 40 Under 40”. Lee also served as chief technical officer for both eduVoice Technologies and Sportica Internet Technologies. Lee holds a Bachelor of Science in management from the University of Phoenix.

 
Xavier Wiechers, Vice President, Software Development 
   Xavier brings over 20 years experience in software product development to Strangeloop. Wiechers has significant experience delivering complex, feature rich applications with thousands of concurrent users on the Microsoft .NET platform, including meeting the performance and scaling challenges ASP.NET based applications.  Xavier most recently served as vice president of product development at Metafos, Inc., a manufacturer of a highly secure online payment system, where he was responsible for leading the product development and quality assurance groups. Prior to that, Wiechers was director of software engineering at Pivotal Corporation (recently acquired by CDC software) where he oversaw the development of their CRM platform. At Chancery Software Ltd., Xavier held several executive positions, including the director of product development.  He holds an Associate’s degree in Computer Information Systems Technology from Kwantlen University College in Vancouver, British Columbia.
